Understanding Fills Versus Full Sets
Why can you not get a quick fill after a month? Here is the difference.
A full set builds the whole design from bare lashes: lengths, curls and thickness across every lash that can carry one. A fill keeps that design going: it takes off the grown-out extensions and fills in before gaps show.
Understanding these two services means that you book the appropriate time slot, maintain realistic expectations, and protect your natural eyelashes from unnecessary stress.
| Service Comparison | Lash Fill (Maintenance) | Full Set (Fresh Application) |
|---|---|---|
| Starting Condition | Sufficient extension coverage remains; lashes in healthy alignment | Bare natural eyelashes or following complete removal |
| Timing Interval | Scheduled within 2 to 3 weeks of last appointment | First-time clients, or beyond 3 weeks since prior service |
| Appointment Window | 60 to 75 minutes | 1.5 to 3.0 hours depending on chosen style [1] |
| Core Objectives | Remove outgrown extensions; fill newly cycled natural lashes | Map complete eye shape; attach 80 to 120+ lashes per eye |
| Hybrid Pricing | $90 within 2 weeks, $110 at 2 to 3 weeks (Classic $80 or $95, Wet Set $100 or $120, Volume $105 or $130, Mega Volume $135 or $165) | $160 (Classic $140, Wet Set $175, Volume $190, Mega Volume $240) |
What happens during a full set appointment?
A full set starts from bare lashes. I map the lengths and curls for your eye shape, wash and prep your lashes, then isolate each one and attach an extension or fan a hair's width from the skin. It takes 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the set [1].
Here is what I do at a full set:
- Consultation: I look at your eye shape and how strong your natural lashes are, and pick curls, lengths and fan weights they can carry.
- Cleanse and prep: I wash your lashes with an oil-free cleanser so the glue bonds to clean hair.
- Isolate and attach: working from the inner corner out, I isolate each lash and attach an extension or fan a hair's width from the skin. This takes 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the set [1].
What happens during a lash fill?
A fill is two jobs. First I remove the extensions that have grown out and started to lean or twist, without pulling on your lash. Then I add fresh extensions to the lashes that were too short last time. Together that takes 60 to 75 minutes.
A professional fill consists of two crucial stages:
1. Removing Outgrown and Twisted Extensions
Because natural eyelashes grow continuously, an extension that was attached two weeks ago has advanced 1mm to 2mm outward along the hair shaft. As the extension moves away from the base, its center of gravity shifts, causing the fiber to lean, twist, or droop.
During a fill, I check every extension. With fine tweezers I ease the bond open on the grown-out ones without pulling on your natural lash, so nothing strains the root.
2. Adding Fresh Extensions to Cycling Lashes
Once outgrown fibers are cleared, I attach fresh extensions to newly matured natural lashes that were previously too young or fine to support an extension during your last visit. This restores uniform density, clean direction, and balanced symmetry.
Why can I not just "fill" a four-week-old set?
Because by then a lot of the original extensions have shed with your natural lashes, the few that are left are grown out and twisting, and taking them all off and rebuilding takes the full set time, not a 60 to 75 minute fill window.
- Natural turnover: your lashes shed every day, so after four or more weeks a lot of the original extensions are gone.
- Heavy Outgrowth: The few extensions that do remain are heavily outgrown, sitting near the tips of natural lashes where they pull and twist. Nearly all of these remaining strays must be individually removed before any new work can begin.
- Time Constraints: A standard fill appointment is allocated 60 to 75 minutes. Rebuilding an entire set from near-bare status requires the full 1.5 to 3.0 hours reserved for a full set [1]. Attempting to rush a full rebuild in a fill window produces uneven, sparse, and fragile results.
For these reasons, appointments scheduled beyond three weeks require full set booking so there is enough time for careful removal and a complete, well-isolated reapplication [1].
Fill timing and trips
At NaahiXtension, maintenance fills are structured around regular 2 to 3 week wear cycles [1]:
- Standard Maintenance Fill (Hybrid $90 within 2 weeks, $110 at 2 to 3 weeks): Scheduled within 3 weeks of your prior appointment. Restores fullness, balances symmetry, and replaces shed lashes [1].
- After three weeks: it is booked as a full set ($140 to $240), because rebuilding the line takes the full appointment time [1].
If a trip lands right on your three-week mark, message me ahead of time and we will find a day that works.
Sets from Another Artist
Fills are only for sets I did. If another salon or lash artist did your current set, the old set comes off first and you book a new set.
Booking Your Service with NaahiXtension
Whether you are starting fresh with a full set or booking your next fill, I bring the whole setup to your Las Vegas home, apartment or hotel.
Every appointment is held with a $25 deposit through Stripe. It comes off your total and you pay the rest when I arrive, by cash, card, or Zelle. Reschedule with more than 24 hours notice and your deposit moves to the new time at no charge. Cancel inside 24 hours and the $25 deposit is not returned, plus a $20 cancellation fee [1].
First time booking a full set? Use code FIRST20 at checkout for $20 off. One per client, and it comes off the balance you pay on the day, not off the deposit. It does not apply to fills.
